We recently had the opportunity to catch a caterpillar, watch it change into a chrysalis, and then into a butterfly. All within about 10 days. Who knew that the process went so fast. What a neat opportunity. We even found it in the field guide and decided that it was a Callippe Fritillary of the Brushfoot family. 
Camden named it "Stillist" because it sat so still while it was waiting to take flight.

So it really does work that way huh?! You are so lucky to have gotten to watch that up close, most of us just see it in books. What fun!
