She started school!

The day has come when for my little Camden to start school. Her first day was August 31st. It was only half day for the first week, and then full day after that. She absolutely loves it! She makes new friends every day and is having a lot of fun. She was so excited for it to start. She had been counting down the days. What a sweet kid. I sure am going to miss having her around all of the time. Camden and Kota saying good bye on the first day. Kota was excited to be the big girl around the house. She has changed a lot since then too. She sure misses her sister though. At least a couple times a week she asks if we can go get Camden now and we hadn't even had lunch. They sure are good sisters. Camden walking into school. They doubled the size of the building this summer and made it really nice. There are only preschoolers and kindergartners in her school. Camden in front of her cubby. Sitting down to color her first picture at school. Right after that she asked, "why are you taking so many pictures." I think that she was ready for us to go and to be on her own. Boy it was hard letting her go. I am sure glad that Darrick was there on her first day so that when I needed to take a time out and control my emotions, he could keep things moving. I wish that I could say that her first day was the worst, but boy I have sure missed her. I am glad that I still have my other two sweet little girls around to keep me company.

A Weekend in Ouray

This weekend we decided to take off ( as if we haven't done enough of that lately) and go to Ouray. It isn't too far which is nice. We had lots of fun. We visited some of the quaint little shops in town, went to a little restaurant, and got ice cream of course.

We stayed in a cabin that night. It beat the tent this time of year and the kids loved it. We were still able to have a fire and roast smores outside of it. When we got up in the morning the lady running the office asked us if we had heard the visitor. I guess there had been a bear in the camp, into the dumpster, and even dropped something off not far from our cabin. He was probably looking for some left over smores.
We got up and went on a hike and then went to the hot pools. We had a great time. I didn't get any pictures of us at the hot pools unfortunately, but I am sure that we will be back again, maybe even to ice climb, which I am way excited for!!
I love it how every time we do anything like this, which has been a lot lately, Kota says "this is the best day ever!!!" It just means that she is having a lot of good memories and good times growing up. Right?! There is nothing better than family.

My little bro is married!

It is crazy how fast life goes by. I can clearly remember the day that Dallin was born. I stayed up late to finish the little afghan that I was making him. Boy it was a great one. :) I looked for a picture from way back then, but wasn't able to find one. He is now all grown up and married! I hadn't met Dana until she walked into the temple for them to be sealed. Right then and there I knew that they were a perfect match. I am so grateful to have her as part of our family.

They were married in the Seattle Temple. I flew up for that, which was an adventure in and of itself. Thank you girls and Darrick for letting me go up and for everything being in such good shape when I returned. It was really fun to see them and to be around family. It was a little strange not having 3 constant sidekicks, but it was a lot of fun and relaxing.
The next weekend they were having a reception in Rexburg. The girls were so sad that they didn't get to go to the wedding and meet Dana, so we decided to head up to the reception. It was so much fun and they just love Dana. They are constantly making her cards and other fun things. Some of the other cousins were there so it was fun to play with all of them. It was so nice of Dana to let the girls try on her tiara. They were so excited and still talk about that. Of course they were in dress up to add to the occasion.
It was so great to see a lot of friends and family that we hadn't seen in a while as well. My grandpa and grandma were able to make it up for the reception. My grandma hasn't been doing that great so it was really neat to see her there. Oaks was pretty beat, but we made it through the night and had a great time.
We had a great time and are so excited for the newly weds. What a cute couple and fun time in life. It was fun to see them and to be there for such a wonderful experience.

Metamorphosis...so amazing!

We recently had the opportunity to catch a caterpillar, watch it change into a chrysalis, and then into a butterfly. All within about 10 days. Who knew that the process went so fast. What a neat opportunity. We even found it in the field guide and decided that it was a Callippe Fritillary of the Brushfoot family. Camden named it "Stillist" because it sat so still while it was waiting to take flight.

Our neighbors that were over when we caught the caterpillar, enjoying the new butterfly.

What a kid!

We have had a fun summer of fishing, swimming, hiking, traveling and you name it. It is hard to believe that we are down to less than a month until my little girl starts school. I guess she is not such a little girl anymore. She is such a good climber, biker, reader, teaser, hiker, scrapbooker, helper, gymnast, and I could go on and on. I can now also add swimmer to the list. I am so proud of her. She loves to go to the pool, but hates to get her head wet. This last week in swimming lessons, the light turned on. She's now such a good little swimmer and she loves it! She even wants to swim with her head under the water when we are at the lake. It is so fun watching them learn, grow, and succeed. She is really excited to start school, and I am too. I know that I am going to be so lonely without her. She has been at my side almost constantly for the past whats almost 6 years now. I love her so much and am so grateful that my life is blessed by her being in it!

(She couldn't decide which video to post and really wanted them both, so here they are.)
